The Association of Research Methodologists is an interest group made up of academics, research professionals, or enthusiasts who need to be part of a progressive movement that is focused on empowering and connecting researchers in South Africa, Africa, and the world at large. This group is housed within the Association of Research Methodologists (ARM), an arm of the Global Centre for Academic Research.

Constitution of ARM (Association for Research Methodologists) – An Entity of the Global Centre for Academic Research (PTY LTD), managed by its associated company, Costa Research Institute (CRI).
Article I: Name and Affiliation
Section 1: The name of this entity shall be Association for Research Methodologists (ARM), hereinafter referred to as ARM, and it operates as an entity under the Global Centre for Academic Research (PTY LTD), hereinafter referred to as GCAR.
Section 2: ARM is affiliated with GCAR and operates in accordance with the policies and guidelines set forth by GCAR.
Article II: Purpose and Objectives
Section 1: The purpose of ARM is to advance research methods across natural, social, and economic sciences within the framework established by GCAR.
Section 2: ARM shall align its objectives with the broader mission of GCAR, which includes fostering academic research, promoting scholarly collaboration, and contributing to the development of knowledge.
Article III: Membership and Governance
Section 1: Membership in ARM is open to scholars, researchers, and scientists who are affiliated with GCAR. Members shall abide by the rules and regulations set by GCAR.
Section 2: The governance of ARM is overseen by the Executive Committee, appointed and accountable to GCAR. The Executive Committee shall include representatives from different disciplines and institutions. Governance shall run for two years, thereafter the GCAR Community of Scholars and the ARM Members will nominate another governance structure.
Article IV: Responsibilities of GCAR
Section 1: GCAR shall provide administrative and logistical support to ARM, including but not limited to financial management, event coordination, and communication, through its administrative arm, Costa Research Institute (CRI).
Section 2: GCAR retains the authority to review and approve any constitutional amendments proposed by ARM.
Article V: Meetings and Events
Section 1: ARM shall organize regular meetings, seminars, colloquia, conferences, and other events in collaboration with GCAR.
Section 2: An annual calendar of events shall be established, incorporating GCAR’s overall academic calendar.
Article VI: Funding and Resources
Section 1: ARM may receive funding and resources from GCAR to support its activities, subject to the financial policies and guidelines of GCAR.
Section 2: ARM shall operate within the budget allocated by GCAR and submit regular financial reports as required.
Article VII: Amendments
Section 1: Proposed amendments to this constitution must be submitted to GCAR for review and approval.
Section 2: Amendments shall be enacted with the approval of GCAR.
Article VIII: Dissolution
Section 1: In the event of the dissolution of ARM, all remaining assets shall be transferred to GCAR for allocation to academic and research-related purposes.

These suggested office bearer portfolios are designed to distribute responsibilities effectively and ensure that ARM operates in accordance with its goals and in collaboration with GCAR. Adjustments to these roles can be made based on the specific needs and size of ARM, as well as in consultation with GCAR.

Establishing professional designations within ARM based on attendance and participation can help recognize and incentivize members for their commitment and contributions. The criteria for ARM Associate Membership are designed to ensure that members engage with ARM’s community, demonstrate an interest in research methodologies, and contribute positively to the association. This entry-level membership provides a foundation for further involvement and advancement within ARM.
An ARM (Association for Research Methodologists) Member is an individual who has met specific criteria and demonstrated a significant commitment to and engagement with the goals and activities of ARM. ARM Members actively contribute to the advancement of research methodologies within the framework established by the Global Centre for Academic Research (GCAR). ARM Members are individuals who have demonstrated a deeper level of commitment and contribution to ARM’s community and objectives. This level recognizes members who actively engage in the association’s activities and contribute significantly to the advancement of research methodologies.

ARM Fellows are recognized leaders in the academic community, playing a significant role in shaping the direction and impact of ARM. This designation signifies a high level of expertise, leadership, and dedication to the advancement of research methods.
